It appears as if all of the rumors are officially true. A new magic band design has just debuted at the Destination D D23 event. This image appeared on twitter just a short while ago from inside the event:

The new design seems to feature the same "puck" style design which was leaked a few weeks ago on social media. The puck itself features the necessary technology to operate what is in past generations of the band. However, we do not yet know if there will be enhanced capabilities or features as a result of the new design (we will provide more information on that when it is made available).

In addition to the standard pop in and pop out bracelet design, lanyards are also available to utilize instead of the bands. While this will offer a bit of customization to the product and the bands, it does accompany a larger size. My concern with the new design is that it not only appears larger but much larger. Children could have problems with the size and with the colors matching the bracelet, customization may be difficult to match colors with new bands, assuming they will be sold separately.

One thing we know for sure is that they are officially here. There is no word yet on when or if the new design will be shipped to upcoming resort guests.

UPDATE: Release dates have been set for the new bands and ship dates for annual passholders and resort guests.

Resort guests will begin receiving MagicBand 2 in January 2017. That is also the time when they are scheduled to be available for retail purchase.

Annual Passholder bands will be shipped beginning in December.

Also, the new band is similar in size to a wrist watch and will continue to operate the same as the current bands do. The lanyard mentioned earlier in this article is being referred to as a "keychain" design and is interchangeable with the bands by means of one small screw. The screwdriver necessary to exchange bands will be included with the new bands. However, the special edition bands being sold at today's event do not include the screwdriver according to first hand reports.

What do you think of the design? Let us know down below!
