1. Buttons

Disney World has a button for every occasion. I love to find an excuse to get one each time I visit the parks. When checking in at your Disney Resort or visiting Guest Services, ask for your very own celebration button. You can pick up a button for your birthday, first visit, engagement, and more. One of the wonderful things about these buttons (besides them being free) is that the Disney Cast Members are trained to recognize them. Be prepared to hear “Happy Birthday!” or “Congratulations!” many, many times as you wear your button. Customer service at Disney World is the very best, and this is a wonderful example of it.

2. Stickers

Cast Members are stocked with rolls of stickers and are happy to give them out to guests. The most common designs are of a Mickey Mouse head or a waving Mickey. If you’re a sticker lover or are traveling with a little one who is, take some time to talk to a cast member and earn a free treat.

3. Water

This has to be one of my very favorite free items to be had at Disney World. Any stand or counter service location that serves fountain drinks can give you a cup of free ice water. My family always asks for a large cup, and most locations will be willing to give you one. If you’re not a fan of the “different” tasting Florida water, my favorite trick is to stash a few Crystal Lite packets in your park bag. This can turn your water into refreshing lemonade in no time. Be sure to take advantage of this great, free service. Never, I repeat, never buy a Dasani water bottle from a Disney cart!

4. Transportation

The Disney Parks have some great, free transportation options. My personal favorite is the monorail. Without using a park ticket, you can take a ride on the resort monorails and visit each of the unique stops on the loop. My favorite stop is the Polynesian Resort. Drop in, grab a lei (also free!), and stop by Pineapple Lanai for everyone’s favorite treat. There are also relaxing boat rides around various areas of the property including the Epcot resorts and Wilderness Lodge area. If you’re at Magic Kingdom, take a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad. The loop has three stops at Main Street Station, Frontierland, and Fantasyland. Don’t pass up these great transportation options.

5. Birthday Treats

Visiting a table service restaurant on your birthday at Disney definitely has its perks. When making your reservation, be sure to tell the Cast Member that you are celebrating your birthday. After arriving at the restaurant, expect a surprise at your table complete with confetti. Most restaurants will serve a vanilla cupcake with a lit candle. If you’re lucky, you may get a birthday song too!
