In a rare post about the Disneyland Resort, today we bring you an inside look at some of the images and details released by Disney for the upcoming attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! While no specific dates for the attractions debut were released, possibly due to the lengthy timeframe of construction, we do have a few new images and conceptual renderings to take a look at.

While the attraction is fairly controversial, given that it is replacing the classic Tower of Terror ride that has been a staple in Disney parks around the world, it's hard not to be interested in what's coming next. Surprisingly, Disney is beginning to acknowledge the controversy and the fact that they are building over a current attraction with the information released today. Take a look at the official statement below:

"A huge transformation is underway now at Disney California Adventure park, as The Collector’s Fortress takes shape at the site of what is now the Hollywood Tower Hotel. It will be home to a new adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and today we have a detailed look at what the fortress will look like when the attraction opens summer 2017.

The model pictured here was created by Walt Disney Imagineering to guide the transformation currently taking place on the exterior of the attraction. Every shade and detail you see here will be replicated in full size, as designers, builders and artists work to bring The Collector’s realm to life here at the Disneyland Resort.
This “warehouse, fortress-like power plant” (as described here by Joe Rohde, Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering) is designed to be intimidating and imposing, but also shimmering and regal. It will be the ideal location for The Collector to secure and show off his most prized acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy."

Work has already began on the transformation of the attraction into something new. While that may take something away from the current experience and storyline, it is good to see that a construction process is developing at a fairly rapid pace. The pace could change in the future, but it is interesting how fast this story has developed from rumor into reality despite the immense controversy it has created.

Are you looking froward to the attraction? Did any of the concept art change your mind about the redesign? Let us know in the comments below or share your thoughts with us on twitter by sharing the post and telling us what you think.

Just for clarification, this is occurring in Disneyland, NOT Disney World.
