Nestled in the “forest” of Central Florida sits my favorite Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World. The Wilderness Lodge is home to a giant totem pole, erupting geyser, and homey fireplace. Its unique décor mixed with the proximity to the Kingdom itself, makes this resort truly special. In this post, I will outline my personal favorite details of the Wilderness Lodge.

Whispering Canyon Café
This restaurant is what I consider a hidden gem on the WDW property. If you’re ready for an entertaining meal paired with tasty, home-cooked food, look no further. A little known fact is dining plan parties can enjoy all-you-can-eat Milkshakes as their “beverage.” By now, you should all know my love of sweets, so it’s no surprise that this is extremely appealing to me. In a previous post, I also raved about the Canyon Skillet. This entrée is a great bang for your buck item, and it’s tasty too! Another aspect of the restaurant that makes it so appealing is the memories you create there. Whispering Canyon is known for its fun-loving servers who can make your night if you simply ask for a condiment or refill.

The Rooms
Although it may seem like a miniscule detail, the rooms at Wilderness Lodge hold a special place in my heart. As a child, my family stayed at this resort frequently, and my parents always requested a room with bunk beds. Several WDW resorts offer bunk beds nowadays, but none compare (at least in my mind) to the Lincoln Log style bunks at Wilderness Lodge. For those not as concerned with stackable sleeping arrangements, you will also find beautiful views from almost any room location, double sinks, a separate toilet and shower room, and adorable lantern light fixtures.

Silver Creek Springs Pool
This beautiful pool begins as a spring flowing down from the lobby, before forming a cascading waterfall into the heated water. During the spring and summer months, cast members hold games and activities at the pool for guests of all ages - My family is known for winning the Disney Trivia game. It’s a fan favorite; you can even win Disney park merchandise. The pool is also perfectly decorated by a wooded area and large rocks to create the perfect, rustic ambiance.

Walt Disney World is known for its various modes of transportation, and the Lodge offers one of my favorites – by water.  The resort has two water taxi routes available: one directly to the Magic Kingdom and a second that loops the Contemporary Resorts and Fort Wilderness Campground. Although not the fastest possible route, the water is a relaxing and scenic alternative to reach the park. (Picture:

The Wilderness Lodge is a special resort to stay at and a perfect place to make memories. These highlights only scratch the surface of what the resort has to offer. When booking your next Disney vacation, consider this unique location.
